ABOUT US
Barrington Student Safety Organization is an advocacy, action, and accountability group. Our goal is to advocate for safety, supplement the village government, police, fire, schools, and other agencies in their efforts to keep Barrington students safe, and to hold them accountable as needed. We are a volunteer group of Barrington and D220 parents, residents, and workers committed to the safety of our children and community.
Formed three days after the devastating death of a Barrington High School student, Marin Lacson, on her way to school on January 25, 2024, this group actively monitors and pursues improved safety for the community.
ROADS AND RAILROADS
We are committed to adding pedestrian gates at all 8 railroad crossings in Barrington starting with the Metra crossings on Route 59, and Hillside Avenue at U.S. Route 14, and Lake-Cook Road and Main Street. We successfully advocated and demanded the Village of Barrington to add four railroad crossing guards at above mentioned railroad crossings during school start and end times while we wait for the pedestrian gates to be installed.
Barrington Student Safety Organization is also addressing the safety concerns of Roslyn and 59 crossing impacting Roslyn Elementary school students, parents, and commuters.
Barrington Student Safety Organization will advocate for better safety through data, transparency, and technology.
